This makes perfect sense. I, Joe Webb, (he/him), was asked to participate in a panel at the upcoming Women in Automotive Conference. I’ve long said how proud I am that I was the first man asked to join the Women in Automotive® Board many years ago, and have spoken at several of the WIA events. However, since taking over speaker selection for the annual conference 4 years ago, I’ve made it a point that men shouldn’t be speakers. Well it looks like I was overruled.
The Women in Automotive Conference is taking place in Nashville TN August 3rd – 6th at the Renaissance Hotel Nashville. Given that I prefer men not to speak at a women’s focused event, it is clear that I was coerced into allowing the panel of men to take place, as well as be one of the panelists, though I do have much to say on the topic. Also, I relented because I was able to name the panel session. It is called “Why Are Men Here?”. Women in Automotive® owner Veronica Dunford convinced us how imperative it is that men too play a role in championing and supporting women in the industry.
Make sure to register for the Women in Automotive Conference today and if you are looking for an extra incentive, please email me directly at joe@womeninautomotive.org.
