2021 Super Bowl Commercial Reviews

My good friend Robin Chandley from Chandley Communications and I sit down on Ryan Gerardi’s MTC Show (Mobility Tech and Connectivity Show) to review this year’s automotive-themed Super Bowl commercials. This was SO MUCH FUN. I can break down commercials for the most irreverent reasons all day. As expected, I get pretty opinionated. 3:40​. Joe Opening Remarks – Decline in viewership, boring game
5:48​. Robin Opening Remarks – More interested in the ads than the game 8:44​. UberEats bridges a couple generations on Wayne’s World
14:30​. Amazon makes Alexa a human, male, sex fantasy
20:01​. Vroom sucker punches car dealers
23:40​. Cadillac paid homage to Edward Scissor hands
31:06​. Volvo focused its 30-second slot on safety for a chance to win “big.” 34:58​. General Motors goes after Norway.
36:38​. Audi Norway — “Don’t hate. Imitate.”
41:30​. Ford — “Finish Strong”
41:50​. Jeep — “The Middle ft Bruce Springsteen”
47:30​. Ford — “Finish Strong” “He’s perfectly bald!” – Joe
50:32​. Toyota — “Jessica Long’s Story”
56:25​. State Farm: “Drake (& Paul Rudd) From State Farm”
59:35​. Encore this year goes to Porsche – “Mr. E” which was made by the automaker but decidedly chosen not to air during the game.
